    Western fast food

By Pranot, Created on: 02/07/2009, Last updated on: 29/07/2009

» Today Western fast food is popular because there are many branches of this food everywhere and it is comfortable to buy and eat them. In my opinion, we should not buy Western fast food for three reasons: First, Western fast food is expensive. It has less quantity because a raw material in production...

    • Ian commented : s 1pm-2pm with an hour for lunch and 52 weeks holiday per annum. The other downside was she had to share a bed with the CEO [/quote:1cf79uxi] Not really, you see my Thai assets are the statutory 800,000 Baht in the bank, plus two houses which belong to my gf (of course ) but one is paying me a monthly rent the other is cheaper than a hotel for the same facilities, actually better. The funny thing is both houses have gained in value because of local developments, so in fact I'm really ahead of the game. Basically, like many retired Farangs, my income is greater than my outgoings, so I have to do something with my money and this is more fun than going to a casino....not that I ever have

» Unseen Thailand delivered by 0ne-Two-Go Airlines It seems that in a time of such economic and political troubles taking a toll on tourism in Thailand that any enterprise planning to remain in business would strive to satisfy its customers. One-Two-Go Airlines has demonstrated to me these are not...

    • fast eddy commented : I thank you for the compliment. It is difficult to summarise the situation which is so broad on so many levels. Culture shock is a series of ups and downs - first year or so one's sure one's in utopia and one defends it to the hilt (virtually speaking) and then over the course of time the rose glasses slip and the discovery of a murky undercurrent is akin to the deepest betrayl from a loved one. Then one rationalises, compares and contrasts and so the process goes on... I think that is why a lot of us contribute to the forum and our places along the journey are at so many differing points that (hopelfully) we can draw strength from others to get us over the hump and back to the warm fuzzy feelings or pick up some sound advice to help us to avoid a big crash just waiting to happen Anyway, having been out here full time for 17 years, I've very little recollection of what I left behind - though I do accept that I was out of the uk before PC became the norm so have never bought into it or have been affected by it. Perhaps this comes across in my postings As Father Gibbons used to say to me, my bro and sis when he came around for Sunday Lunch 'I call a spade a spade'! cheers Fast Eddy

» I am here to share my personal experience. And I’m not here to offend anyone. Hopefully I can open your mind to reality to treat Asian women with respect. In 1986, I was a young beautiful naïve Thai girl, 20, who held onto the Asian tradition. For this reason I stayed in a miserable marriage....

cool kids and their motorbikes, new trend !?!

By pachangamac042, Created on: 28/11/2008, Last updated on: 12/02/2009

» There is a brand new trend in the village I stay up here near Chaiyaphum. Young people strip their motorbikes of everything “you don’t really need” like; lights, protections, exhaust pipes, silencers, mirrors and so on and then go on the streets an “do the monkey” on their bikes, specially...

Have you heard any new hit songs on the radio about someone riding around on a motorbike with no muffler installed? Maybe it's the latest Lydia song behind the craze?

Is it normal to pick up the bride at midnight on the wedding day?

By Anonymous, Created on: 06/08/2007, Last updated on: 17/06/2009

» My Thai girlfriend and I planned to get married in Jan next year. Her parents went to an astrologer to find a good date and time for our wedding. Finally the date and time have been determined. However, it seemed a little bit strange to me about the time that astrologer picked. I was told that...

    • Just-1-Voice2 commented : was not the local "free lunch kitchen". What's somewhat surprising is that family (brother, sister, 100 cousins, etc.) all love me and think I'm the best thing that's every passed through immigration, so go figure. I consider myself one of the lucky ones, and can only shake my head at those who go into marriages with women half their ages, thinking they're going to find bliss and happiness, and end up finding themselves missing a few thousand baht, or actually dollars in some cases, and then going: "What happened?" When we go into the city of Chiang Mai, my wife and I both laugh at some of the "couples" we see and both know what's going on. That's not to say that there aren't some couples who are happy, and both love one another, but let's face it, those are the exception and definitely not the rule.

    First Impression - disappointment

By Anonymous, Created on: 01/10/2006, Last updated on: 19/02/2008

» Thursday night I landed on the new airport on a Thai flight from Korea. I expected some glitches and so I was not surprised when we had to disembark on delayed buses. I only travelled with handluggage to avoid problems with luggage handling. Arrival up to immigration and luggage retrieval was otherwise...

    • Anonymous commented : a few of us went looking for lunch before checking in. We had to squeeze through the crowd to get to the cafes and restaurants, which were very squashed and all packed out. There were no seats for us; finally we had to split ourselves up to take up odd seats here and there. The atmosphere was very oppressive; it wasn't a comfortable or pleasant lunch at all. To make it worse, the serving was miniscule at a hefty price.
