    • fast eddy commented : three months to vegitate on a beach - no news Get this, the Thais who rent the ground floor of our building finally fired their dayworker about a month ago as she was often two hours late in opening their shop and really didn't do much of anything. Foolishly, they didn't supervise her departure from the building but did it by phone - of course they paid the price When they turned up the next day the photocopier and computer had taken a hike They reported it to the police who replied ' we think it wasn't the girl you fired but she let a friend in to carry the stuff away for her - what can we do?' My thoughts were to re-enact every cop show I've seen and put the girl through the good cop/bad cop routine while she is held in custody. Basically, if you don't tell us who you let in the shop to steal the equipment we're going to book you for it! I guess the cops just couldn't see any payoff for them cheers Fast Eddy

    • fast eddy commented : eep your head down, enjoy the beaches, sunsets, trecking in Chiang Mai and all of the touristy stuff with a clear mind Enjoy your freedom to step outside into the sunshine whenever you wish rather than the surroundings of a victorian jail Enjoy the laughing children, chattering birds and the sound of spoken Thai by beautiful ladies rather than the slamming of doors and the harsh jangle of keys during slop-outs and lock downs Make friends with the locals and tourists who you bump into during your day to day life - open your mind to other cultures and the way they do things and the pros and cons of their cultures versus what you percieve of Thai culture and all that you know of the cultures you have left behind (both the uk and the prison service) rather than having to witness or stay one step ahead of prison riots, plots to jump the jailers, random flash points/riots, cell searches, putting people through reception, young boys being pimped out, stabbings, sadists et al which was a part of your old life in the prison system Happy days Mo. Above all, forget about Jeff Archer and his ilk - get over it and get on with what maybe the best part of your life in Thailand As to Mu Ham, I think all of this occured while you were still holding therapy classes for male rape victims/sado-masichists and wife/child abusers back in the uk. Yes, I'm sorry to say, that it was all over the news channels and papers that his parents viewed the victims of Mu Ham's hissy fit with the bus as pretty much equal to soi dogs and the death warranted as much sympathy as roadkill Many Thais as well as non-Thais were incensed by this reaction from his parents - especially given that his mother was an ex- Thai beauty competition winner and had represented the country in international competitions Of course, he was allowed bail even though he'd murdered an innocent bus passenger who was waiting by the bus and injured others in the group. He was allowed to keep his driving liscense as the authorities stated that using a car to murder another human being and depriving them of their right to life as well as depriving the victim's parents of enjoying a long life with their son/daughter didn't constitute a traffic violation! I can accept your stance to support Mu Ham as your working background and training is based on and around such people - you have to try to garner something positive from such an evil act However, while you opine that he and his parents are wracked with guilt and grief for all the harm Mu Ham caused it wasn't long before he rammed another bus full of passengers with his Merc Are you beginning to get the picture/ And guess what? He's still not in jail/a mental institution or a straight jacket So, the upshot is Mo, enjoy your new life and leave behind your old predudices/certainties as you are in a whole new world. Enjoy it as much as you can, help people along the way and they will help you in return or others further down the line will give you a lift/opportunity. Most of all, be very careful when around young rich kids as you never know when they will kick-off and the law will not protect you in these cases. This is Thailand Cheers Fast Eddy

    • punter commented : nts higher than Malaysia. The beaches are far less crowded. The quality of the goods sold in the market is better and there is no double pricing. Most people speak English. No one has ever fudged my utility bills or tried to charge me extra for anything. They respect you in Malaysia. People generally have more self respect than do the Thai's and it shows in their friendly demeanour. Not like in Thailand where you are instantly the 'enemy falang'. Thailand has deteriorated to the point where it is not even worth visiting.

    • Git commented : ee the mountain roads and the beaches. I know i's easier and cheaper to buy the proper size bike there. Not what you see in pricing here. Not being drinking no negatives for me. Do you happen to know of a Motorcycle Forum there. If so I would really like o contac some other riders there. So far everyone who has explored Via a bike has hd very good thing to say about the experience. So I'm really looking forward to it about November

There is a "fanatical" scooter club in my village (Lambretta and Vespa) pehaps they could help you?

    • Git commented : me I have seen this. Rosarito beach area in Mexico a small town was developed not far form there. Foriegners and Mexcian nationals alike. After the town was developed the owner of a Spanish land grant acted on it. The court upheld his deed, everyone was evicted form the city and he owned a complete town. Fair not hardly, but thats what happened it is foolish to think it won't happen here. Far to much has transpired in the past seven years to me to believe we are welcome here by any means. When I moved here endless tourist visa runs was a normal practice try it today. Grey market big bikes with no book were common, until they started siezing them them a few months back. Sounds like no big deal some of those bikes were bought for hundreds of thousands of baht. But, it was OK law was ther never enforced, that changed instantly. Usury fees on foriegn ATM card for money to be spent in the Thai economy, now this is just to name a few. I left with the feeling that they don't want us here, they want our money here and prefer we just send it and stay away. My wife was going to pay off the house this year, but under the circumstances that's not going to happen they can have the payments until I die. I'm just paying rent. There are vast fortunes to be made in the baby boomers retiring and this is not the only place in the world a person can retire and many offer a heck of lot more Security then Thailand does, simple as that. I will stay keep my money in my home country, until they act on this and them I'm out of here. Simple as that. They won't see more then one satang beyond my immediate needs.

    • Michael Bukit commented : even house with land. 6. The beaches are as good as Thailand. Maybe I should say it is better because there is less beach umbrella. Unlike Thai beaches. Some beaches are dense with umbrella that you don’t get to see the beach at all except the sea. Go to Pattaya or Patpong beach and take a look. 7. No double standard when we pay for entrance fee to parks, theme parks & recreation places. 8. 10 years retirement visa and don’t need to report every 3 months and can travel out of the country as many times as you like. No restriction. 9. Foods are equally good and cheap. 10. Infrastructures are better such as roads, highways, communications, public transportations, etc….. Better driving system too. 11. Communication with the local is only easier as English is quite widely spoken & understood there. 12. It is also less crowded compared with Thailand as the population is about half of Thailand. The only downside is that for Farang who wants to womanise or to marry a young wife. This country is not as convenience as Thailand that you can find them everywhere. Drop by and checks out yourself. Welcome to Fascinating Malaysia.

B Magazine, Richard Mcleish, Published on 03/01/2010

» A little over two years ago, Asus appeared on the scene with a model that was to start a new era of laptops - the netbook generation. Since then, many manufacturers have followed suit, releasing a myriad of models of various specs and sizes. Asus continues its epic EEE PC series with the recent release of the 1008HA model, but can they continue to shape the genre of laptop that they practically defined?
