    Pedal power in the park

    » The "Cycle-lizing Bangkok Fest" on Feb 25, offers a rare opportunity to cycle in Lumpini Park from 3pm to 8pm. (Bicycles are usually only allowed in the park between 10am and 3pm.) Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Green World Foundation, the event's highlight will be a one-of-a-kind stage show with the lighting generated by human power. Thirty bicycles will be connected to electric generators and 60 cyclists will take turns pedalling to power the lights. There will be performances by Sqweez Animal, Nathapol "Kor" Srijomkwan, Apartment Khunpa, Chulachak "Hugo" Chakrabongse and his cyclist friends. Short films about cycling will be screened and accompanied by live music. Those turning up with a bike can join the "Saturday Night Bike Fever" cycling tour to Chinatown which will take place after the stage performances. To reduce the use of plastic bags and bottles in the festival, participants are encouraged to bring their own tote bag and water bottle. Coming by bicycle or public transportation is also advised.
