America's saviour
Life, Bernard Trink, Published on 18/10/2019
» Bill Clinton wasn't the best president of the United States of America, nor was he the worst. Nor was he the most oversexed. John F. Kennedy had more pillow-mates by far. Yet Jackie Kennedy and Hillary Clinton didn't make a fuss about it.

Corona and the death of cinema (again)
Life, Kong Rithdee, Published on 30/03/2020
» "Cinema is an invention without a future," said Louis Lumiere who, along with his brother Auguste, invented the Cinematographe in 1895. From its birth, cinema was convinced of its own death. From the very beginning, cinema predicted its own eventual demise. And that was before the two world wars, the advent of home video, laser disc, DVDs, Blu-rays, terrorism, mass shootings, Netflix, and now the coronavirus, the latest scourge that has sealed shut cinema houses around the world.

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 20/03/2020
» Social distancing and staycations present opportunities for film lovers with the various streaming services available to the homebound. Lost Girls is one of the latest original films Netflix has to offer this month. It's directed by Liz Garbus and stars Amy Ryan, Thomasin McKenzie, Oona Laurence, Dean Winters and Gabriel Byrne. » Staying home, barely going out, staying in your PJs for the majority of the day, taking them off to shower some time in the afternoon only to change into fresh cleaner PJs -- welcome to the new normal. I forgot to mention the part where you work from home but let's be honest, are you really working from home or did you just breeze past one season of a TV show you're now re-watching for the fourth time? Nevertheless, we all seem to be confined to our homes for the foreseeable future. You may be the introvert of introverts but even you may get bored and stir-crazy being stuck in one place for a long time. Here are a number of things to give some levity to your lockdown.

Flavours of the Mediterranean
Guru, Kankanok Wichiantanon, Published on 29/11/2019
» Nestled inside a residential village off Rama IX, the whitewashed two-storey house gives the impression of a Greek restaurant that is fresh and contemporary-looking. Inside, the gleam of brass light fixtures against bleached stone walls creates a classy feel; while dark wooden furniture and granite floors tone that down a little for a casual, homey vibe. The scheme of ocean blue runs throughout the place in the form of comfy cushions and blue glassware, which help bring a touch of flair to the rather neutral-toned dining room. The restaurant is spacious, with space for 100 diners. However, this doesn't mean reservations are not needed.
