» Over the past few weeks, to much of my dismay, the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) has been making progress in pushing for a draft media bill. First, they proposed an idea to levy penalties on unlicensed reporters with up to B60,000 fines and three years in prison, with the companies who hired them also facing similar consequences. Semi-fortunately, the harsh punishments were later dropped, but people who work in media still need to obtain certificates from their employers.

» How has this week's traffic treated ya, now that the Thai kids are back in school? As a parent who has to endure the heart-tearing stress of being stuck on Sathon Road every morning and afternoon, I think I deserve a trophy for my patience, or a year's supply of Vicodin.

» Prices for solar-generated electricity provided by commercial firms are falling dramatically. A Mexican solar power company just won a bid to produce electricity for a wholesale cost of US$17.70 (580 baht) per megawatt hour. The next two lowest bids were by Saudi Arabian and Italian firms.
