    Police hunt out of focus

    News, Published on 24/09/2014

» Police action in the first week after the horrific Koh Tao tourist murders reveals old problems that are getting worse. Since the battered bodies of Hannah Witheridge from Norfolk and David Miller from Jersey were found, police have made obvious and serious errors by the day. The errors have subjected victims' families and friends to needless suffering. But the Royal Thai Police from the lower ranks to headquarters have pandered shamelessly to a voracious media. When the subject of police reform comes before the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) committees in the near future, this case should be Bad Example No.1.

Defining 'Best' in a supply chain is difficult

Business, Barry Elliott, Published on 24/09/2014

» We are very interested in the evolving debate about what constitutes a "top" supply chain. For many, the annual survey by AMR Research, subsequently acquired by Gartner, sets the bar. We have reported regularly on both the global and Asian winners of this survey, including the 2014 Global Top 25 on July 29.

    Let's talk trash

Life, Sasiwimon Boonruang, Published on 24/09/2014

» A few days ago, a Facebook friend of mine posted a comment that she was finding it increasingly difficult to find litter bins, a fact that was making the city dirtier. I totally disagree with this last comment, because no matter how many litter bins there are, dirty roads and surroundings seem to be a fact of life in Thailand.

The iPhone 6 and iOS 8

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 24/09/2014

» Last weekend, the latest iPhones were put on sale in a few select countries. By all accounts there were record sales of the two devices, with the iPhone outselling the iPhone Plus on the first weekend. I have no information as to when these devices may appear on these shores. One of the first to buy an iPhone, in Perth, Australia, made himself instantly famous by dropping the phone in front of TV cameras as he unboxed it.

New camera is weighing on my mind

Life, James Hein, Published on 24/09/2014

» I've had it for a while now so I finally decided to upgrade my SLR camera. After some research I decided on a Nikon D5300. Nikon, because that's the brand of the lenses and other camera accessories I already own; and the D5300 because it's lightweight and has all the latest features found in mid-range models. If I was going to match my old D200 I probably would've gone for the D7100 which has more knobs that I will ever need and is also a lot heavier.
