» Firstly I'm not Thai I'm a Farang as you call me but I'm also a man with a heart and see Thailand tareing it's self apart hurts watching. I see a need of the good people of Thailand to standup as a nation and help your fellow Thai's who are rice farmers recover what the government promised them. They...

    • KhunJaidee commented : For a clearer perspective, do read the following article: http://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opin ... ing-scheme It is undeniable that the unfortunate needs to be helped. The question is whether the Yingluck administration has been helping in the right way, in the most prudent and efficient manner? The huge sums involve money paid by tax-payers. The government is the trustee responsible for the disbursement of aid in the most efficient, transparent and corruption-free manner. Has the current government passed the test? Is the whole electorate aware of how money is spent and given the information necessary to make informed decisions how to vote? Your guess is as good as anyone else's.

Why do ONLY foreigners get special promotion?

By Anonymous, Created on: 28/01/2008, Last updated on: 05/02/2014

» The advertising board on the way to Airport is shown "Foreigner Zone.. Buying house (somewhere around Bangkok..) Foreigner, with Special Price!!" I know the property company may want to attract foreigners to invest in property in Thailand. But, what about Thais who also want to own the...

    • johncat1 commented : Foreigners normally do get a special price, especially at Government Parks and many tourist venues. The prices are actually displayed and a foreigner can pay as much as 10x more than the price a Thai pays. If I ever go shopping in a market or have to barter for a good price I get my girl friend to ask for " Thai price " . Often I will disappear and let my girl friend buy things at Thai price. When I asked why the difference I was told " Farangs have plenty of money and Thais do not "

    • johncat1 commented : I believe foreigners can own a house BUT not the land it is built on. " Catch 22 Thai style " I think foriegners who live here should be permited to own just one house for their Thai family. Also just enough land to build the house on. To me this seems like a fair solution to stop greedy Western property speculators
