    A touch of class

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 26/05/2017

» We all have problems, but your super red arowana aquarium fish being too drowsy to entertain your house guests because it just returned from getting a facelift or being locked out of inheriting a 64 acre palatial estate in the heart of Singapore would surely only qualify as "rich people problems".

The 47-year-old did not graduate from any art school -- neither Poh Chang or Silpakorn University, the most respected training grounds for local artists. His works have never been displayed in a local museum or gallery. Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre (BACC) turned down his proposal for an exhibition. Private galleries did the same. The only show he had was a brief display at Amarin Plaza, a shopping mall.

» Calm waves slowly reach Ao Khao beach on Koh Mak, a tiny island in Trat. The water was warm and crystal clear. A school of little fish swam near the shore while a sea bird stood on the shoreline waiting for its opportunity. Just then in the blink of an eye, it dipped its head into the water and successfully caught its prey and flew away.

The renowned landscape architect's work have trailblazed and inspired environmental sustainability, incorporating the fundamentals of ecological planting, biodiversity and water use. Grant was recently in town as a guest lecturer at Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Architecture.
