Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 25/05/2016
» There were several upgrades from Apple last week, starting with OS X. This had a new version of iTunes that organises sections differently, giving a less cluttered interface. With the update to OS X there were also several security updates.

Flexibility of the iPad Pro
Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 20/04/2016
» Over the past few weeks, I have had some debate about the iPad Pro. I picked up the 9.7-inch version two weeks ago, but had been using the 12.9-inch version since November. Like others who have used these, I understand Apple's claim that this is the future of computing. Those I have debated with, do not. Their main difficulty is categorising operating systems: this is OS X (or Windows), which is meant for work; this is iOS and it's not for serious people.

Apple's dip: What comes next?
Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 04/05/2016
» Everyone knew Apple was going to have a not-so-good quarter, except perhaps Wall Street, which reacted in the only way Wall Street knows how: hitting Apple's share price and claiming that Apple is doomed (again). Some also called for the head of Tim Cook.

Changing strategies with the iPad Pro
Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 02/03/2016
» Last July, I was delighted with the arrival of the MacBook. Despite its 1.1GHz processor, it provided respectable performance, helped by the 8GB 1,600GHz RAM and the 256GB SSD. This was the same SSD as in my Mac mini. That has provided quite good performance, along with the 512GB SSD in my MacBook Pro. Both of those Macs also have 16GB RAM, so with all three devices, processor speed is not the main criterion for performance.

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 13/01/2016
» Apple's iOS devices do not allow users to access data on disks using the Lightning connector. Using Wi-Fi to access content stored on a disk is a solution. I have been trying to work with a Seagate Wireless Plus disk. I was encouraged by a number of positive reviews I had read.

Artistic output for photographs on iOS devices
Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 20/01/2016
» Although I prefer working in Aperture, I have softened my views on Photos on the Mac. It is much improved from its first release, but there is still room for improvement. I use it mainly for iPhone photographs synchronised to the Mac via iCloud.

Music and photo adjustment apps on iOS devices
Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 27/01/2016
» A few hours ago, on Jan 26 (Wednesday morning here) Apple released its Q1 2016 financial report. Analyst opinion has been split, particularly on iPhone sales speculation: some say down, some say up. With figures from China and India already looking promising, those who always vote for a doomed Apple may be wrong again.

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 10/02/2016
» Several reports over the weekend had Apple as the bad guys again over the failure of some iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s models. They had had the home button replaced by unauthorised dealers and after an update to iOS there may be a report of an Error 53: the phone fails.
