    America bashing at Esplanade Mall

By gohmer, Created on: 09/05/2010, Last updated on: 11/06/2011

» I putting this post up because it is related to international relationships with American citizens living and visiting Thailand. It illustrated to me that little is known about America by most people in Thailand, in fact, I think that few in the world truly understand what America is about and how...

    • micheal326 commented : Unlike most countries in Europe and Asian the USA,as a country, has never been ruled by a monarchy. Most Europeans and Asians do not understand this. The USA government is also different, the USA does not have a parliamentary government. The USA has elections for the House of Representatives every two years, Senators every 6 years and President every 4 years. Also there is a significant amount of envy and jealousy from some in Europe. If not for the USA the Europeans would all be ruled by the Nazi and Asian by the Japanese and if not that then Russian and Chinese. America is isolated from Asian and Europe each by an ocean. Americans are a generous and compassionate people and has helped almost every country at one time or another. America is not socialist country, another thing Europeans do not understand. I could gone on, but this gets the point across.

    Thai alcoholic beverage laws

By chazthai, Created on: 23/08/2010, Last updated on: 04/11/2010

» Can someone tell me the rationale for the restriction of liquor sales to 11AM-2PM and after 5 PM? I can understand the reason perhaps on election days (to prevent vote buying with a free beer), but to deal with this every other day of the year seems unreasonably restrictive and archaic.

Many shops stop sale of alcohol between 2pm and 5pm and this was put in place to help curb alcohol sales to school kids. This is the time of the day when schools let out.

    And the winners are...

» If you're on your way to make your first alcohol purchase of the day, alas, it's another dry day in the City of Angels. That's because there's an election today for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, or city council. In order to elect the highest calibre of politician, as usual there is an alcohol ban and if sobriety is indeed the reason we have these elected MPs, then I say let the Chang flow from my kitchen taps immediately.

How technology could prove crucial in the Australian election

Database, James Hein, Published on 01/09/2010

» I have been following the election process down in Australia. The big ticket IT item for one of the major parties is the National Broadband Network. The stated plan is to connect 95 percent of homes there using a fibre optic connection to provide 100MBPS connectivity and even 1GBPS to each home user. The party concerned uses Singapore, South Korea and Japan as examples of how this is possible. The media in Australia tends to be somewhat one-sided and this extends all the way down to the PC and computer magazines.
