» Thai governments in the past have made a grave mistake in allowing the Dhammakaya Buddhist sect to build a temple on a vast piece of land as large as 2,300 rai -- despite the fact that normal Thai Buddhist temples are no larger than five or 10 rai. This has caused consternation among Thai Buddhists that this is not Buddhism according the original vision of the Lord Buddha.

It is of course absolutely correct to point out that Somkid Jatusripitak's vision for Thailand as a developed nation on par with the likes of Japan and Singapore cannot be achieved without a new generation of young people educated to a much higher standard than their predecessors, and equipped with critical and creative minds, which would of course depend upon the ability to express thoughts and opinions freely.
