The attorney-general also instructed that further investigations be made after the suspect asked for justice and to be allowed to call four more witnesses to testify in the case. Mr Vorayuth also asked that experts review their conclusions on the speed that his Ferrari was travelling at when it rear-ended Pol Snr Sgt-Maj Wichian Klanprasert's motorcycle in the early hours of Sept 3, 2012 on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. Prosecutors have already charged Mr Vorayuth with three offences - exceeding the speed limit, reckless driving causing death and damage to state property, and hit-and-run. Mr Ruecha said [b:zlohzsqj]the speeding case would expire in September[/b:zlohzsqj]. Prosecutors would ask police to hurry up and conclude their additional investigations to ensure Mr Vorayuth will be formally indicted on all three charges, he said. He insisted that there was no attempt by authorities to drag out legal proceedings against the wealthy Red Bull heir.

    • thompson commented : Indictment of Red Bull heir looms Published: 23 Aug 2013 The public prosecutor will decide on Monday whether to indict Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya, who allegedly killed a police officer in a hit-and-run last year. The prosecutor has already postponed the decision four times. The statute of limitations for the speeding charge against Mr Vorayuth is due to expire on Sept 3. Ruecha Krairiksh, lead prosecutor in the case, said the indictment was postponed repeatedly because the suspect had complained to police that the Attorney-General's Office should interview four more eye-witnesses to ensure fairness. However, Thong Lor police had yet to submit any additional information regarding the suspect's petition to prosecutors, Mr Ruecha said. Mr Vorayuth, grandson of Red Bull energy drink founder Chaleo Yoovidhya, allegedly rammed his Ferrari into Pol Snr Sgt Maj Wichian Klanprasert's motorcycle on Sukhumvit Soi 47 in the early hours of Sept 3 last year. The policeman's body was dragged about 200 metres along the road. Mr Vorayuth allegedly fled the scene and was arrested several hours later at his home on Sukhumvit Soi 53.

    • thompson commented : Red Bull heir's indictment DELAYED AGAIN 26 Aug 2013 at 15.26 Public prosecutors on Monday postponed for the fifth time the indictment of Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya, whose Ferrari hit and killed a police officer on a motorcycle last year, explaining that the suspect was unwell and the investigation incomplete. Ruecha Krairiksh, lead prosecutor in the case, said the indictment was postponed repeatedly because the suspect had appealed to Attorney-General Chulasingh Vasantasingh against a speeding charge, asking for more time to question four more eyewitnesses and two more accident reconstruction experts to ensure fairness. Mr Chulasingh agreed to Mr Vorayuth’s request. However, Thong Lor police had yet to submit any additional information regarding the suspect's petition to prosecutors, Mr Ruecha said. Mr Vorayuth's lawyers also lodged a request with prosecutors asking for an adjournment of his client’s indictment to Sept 2 at 10am, saying he was sick. He submitted Mr Vorayuth’s medical certificate along with his request. The statute of limitations for the speeding charge against Mr Vorayuth expires on Sept 3.
