    Trump's Miss Universe foreign policy

    News, Published on 12/05/2016

» OK, it's easy to pick on Donald Trump's foreign policy. But just because he recently referred to the attack on the World Trade Center as happening on "7/11" -- which is a convenience store -- instead of 9/11, and just because he claimed that "I know Russia well" because he held a "major event in Russia two or three years ago -- (the) Miss Universe contest, which was a big, big, incredible event" -- doesn't make him unqualified.

    Foreign-owned timber plantations bad idea

    Veera Prateepchaikul, Published on 20/03/2015

» Yet another project has been shelved by the government of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, but this time it is the right decision. It would be even better if the project – foreign owned timber plantations – was scrapped, period.

Foreign noses always good for a laugh

News, Roger Crutchley, Published on 19/12/2021

» Today's column is coming from the northeastern province of Chaiyaphum to where I periodically escape for a break from Bangkok. There was a quick reminder that I was no longer in the Big Mango while sitting in a village restaurant with my wife and friends. A Thai lad about 5 years old came up to our table and stared at me for a bit and giggled. I might add this is not an unusual reaction to Crutch in the provinces.

    Post-poll policy: Dynamic continuity

News, Kavi Chongkittavorn, Published on 26/03/2019

» Speculation is rife about imminent changes in Thailand's diplomatic direction after five years of military-ruled guidance. Political pundits and campaigners ahead of the polls last week also sent out strong signals that they expect a new cabinet in Government House with new policies. Indeed, Thailand's foreign policy will become more dynamic with continuity.

    News, Postbag, Published on 11/04/2019

» Re: "FM's outburst", (BP, April 10). I could understand Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai's outburst at the diplomatic saga which took place at Pathumwan police station where 12 diplomats from the EU, UN and Western embassies were present to observe the sedition proceedings against Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, Future Forward Party leader. But I have two observations:

    Trump's phone tap karmic revenge?

    News, Published on 30/10/2018

» Specific incidents can sometimes reveal much larger truths. This would seem to be the case regarding recent revelations that the Chinese have been eavesdropping on US President Donald Trump's less-than-secure phone calls and using the information gathered as part of an elaborate plot to influence the president.

    Data security a foreign concept

News, Alan Dawson, Published on 22/04/2018

» You'd think that just about the worst thing that could happen in today's charged smartphone-internet intersection is the theft of many thousands of the most important identification documents and personal details of mobile phone owners. But you'd be wrong.
