Down to earth

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 29/01/2016

» There is something about having greenness in your home. No, we're not talking about propping up your Christmas tree a few weeks a year. Green is one of the most soothing colours (more so when it's on a traffic light) and, being in the centre of the spectrum, the colour of balance.

» Tomorrow is National Children's Day, and while we are no longer children (need a mirror for confirmation?), I want you to take this opportunity to remember how it felt to be a child.

Ad a glance -- 2015

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 18/12/2015

» We've seen some genius ads this year in Thailand. Thai Life Insurance's tear-jerking "Garbage Man" makes you want to hug the first street sweeper you see. "Every Mouthful is Meaningful" by CP makes you want to call your mother right that very moment. Thai ads also seem to be loved the world over -- even foreign websites have featured "Thai ads that make you cry" .

Desk makeover

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 04/12/2015

» It’s the last month of the year, and for us mere mortals it is common to find the following on our desks: expired, months-old vouchers, invitations to events held last May, receipts from who knows when, and unlabelled (and entirely useless) CDs. In other words, our desks are a mess — and we’re too busy (or lazy) to care.

» I would like to start this editor’s note with something I learned a long time ago in my reasoning class. One of the (few) things that have managed to stick to my brain is when my teacher told me, “Just because we have never seen a green swan does not prove they do not exist.”

Food for thought

» Here's a little challenge for you. Find an eatery that 1) is located in the downtown Sukhumvit area 2) is air-conditioned and well-decorated 3) charges less than 100 baht per meal and 4) has its own parking area (kerbside parking doesn't count). Not easy, right? And no, your friend's bachelor pad doesn't qualify.
