#LookThep

» I was beyond relieved when those creepy lookthep dolls stopped making headlines. It was just too weird seeing people spending obscene money pampering a lifeless doll.

#Heat

» I never see the point of saying something obvious -- it's a waste of time, like saying today is Friday. What good does it do? Nada. But how can one not talk about this extreme heat we're living with?

LIFE

A divine retreat

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 22/04/2016

» When Bangkokians think about places for a peaceful escape, Asok probably doesn't make their list. More often associated with traffic jams and crowded dining spots, there is, however, a serene side to Asok. Admittedly rare, but there is.

#TillDebtDoUsApart

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 12/02/2016

» Unless you've been living under a rock -- or in a place with horrible 3G -- you'll have heard about the dentist who refused to repay a 30 million baht scholarship and is now living a supposedly hi-so life in the US. Her guarantors were forced to pay her debt. After the news became widespread, she made a promise to pay them back.

Baby, when the lights go out

» I loved clubbing. I used to party a lot in my early 20s, until the ageing process deprived me of the ability to stay awake, much less active, past midnight. What I miss most about those days is dancing to fun (and ear-splittingly loud) music in dark places. It was just so exhilarating, knowing everyone around me was too drunk to care. I have often wondered, why can't someone bring clubbing forward to like 7pm?

#FuneralTalk

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 29/01/2016

» My grandfather passed away when I was eight, and while I can’t remember much about his funeral, I remember thinking all of my aunties looked a bit odd without their usual make-up and hairdos. They told me they weren’t allowed to dress up while mourning.

LIFE

Down to earth

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 29/01/2016

» There is something about having greenness in your home. No, we’re not talking about propping up your Christmas tree a few weeks a year. Green is one of the most soothing colours (more so when it’s on a traffic light) and, being in the centre of the spectrum, the colour of balance.
