» What's going on with netizens today? A few years ago they said that the internet would be a new medium to bring people closer together, but why does it seem now that these technologies are tearing us apart? In this age of new communication, technologies and social media have made it easier for us to stay in touch with the people we care about, like family members and friends, and even strangers from different places and cultures around the world. However, what this comes with is a dark side of being so connected.

» Reading about the terrible plight of the people in the Klong Toey slum, I wonder why one of our super rich billionaires doesn't adopt this slum and make it his project to make life more tolerable and give these people a little hope, even if it is just until they are able to get back to work again. Not only would it be good karma for such a person, it would be good publicity and might help mitigate some of the negative feelings that some of us have towards the super rich.
So what's the plan?

» Re: "Coups not the answer", (PostBag, May 23). I fully agree with Felix Qui that coups are not the solution to Thailand's political maladies and government corruption. I also agree that Thaksin Shinawatra was highly successful in garnering the support of poorer segments of society, largely because he was the first politician to give marginalised Thais any attention, however meagre.

» It is indeed good news to know that the Maya Bay closure will be extended until 2021. (BP, May 9). Last year's closure resulted in ecological recovery, which is a promising sign. To be frank, I previously did not think Thais could put short-term self interest aside and cooperate for long-term benefits. It's also good news that they will implement the online e-ticketing system for transparency purposes.
