News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 28/07/2013

» Let the child learn to walk before expecting him to run. Otherwise, he'll trip and fall, suffer a booboo and cry like a baby. But it seems the Thailand 2020 scheme is expecting the child to go straight from crawling to running in the Olympics.

Diary of a mad ammart

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 25/07/2013

» I can see it coming. Palaces turned into hotels. Heritage sites turned into shopping malls. Traditions made a mockery of. Revered institutions become tabloid gossip fodder. No more respect. No more decency. The world turned upside down. We are losing our soul.

The story of a lese majeste prisoner

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 21/07/2013

» Sometimes there's no need for commentary, the story speaks for itself. Allegations were made by Thanthawut Taweewarodomkul during a seminar last Sunday, recorded and put on YouTube, that ordinary red shirt prisoners and red shirt lese majeste convicts in particular are physically abused by guards and other prisoners; ignored by leaders of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD); and at the mercy of Pheu Thai-appointed lawyers who didn't know and didn't care about their cases.

Income tax could become the great equaliser

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 07/07/2013

» Do you feel singled out, victimised? Has this democracy treated you unfairly? Are you one of only about three million Thais paying income tax? If so, raise your hand, because, blast it all, we should demand equality!

Let the voice of reason prevail

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 04/07/2013

» Having attended several rallies by the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) over the years, one thing has become abundantly clear - when on the stage, UDD chairwoman Tida Tawornseth doesn’t receive nearly the response and applause that Jatuporn Prompan does.

Of treasure chests, love and loyalty

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 27/06/2013

» For the Caesars, there was no more effective way to win love and legitimacy than throwing coins to the adoring populace from treasure chests plundered from conquered territories.

Risible rice scheme harvesting problems for 'Master Plan'

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 23/06/2013

» Oh what a tangled web we weave when we practise a populist policy that is ill-conceived. A scheme to help farmers is much needed _ no one should deny that. A poorly planned scheme riddled with holes and masked in secrecy doesn't help anyone _ this also is undeniable.
