Making scents

» During the time when Chalida Kunalai, a scent designer, was creating a mackerel odour for a set of 12 children's books titled Ni Than Lom Hai Jai (Scent Tales), a cat often roamed near the front door of her office, NOSEstory. Eventually she let the cat in the office, where it indeed nosed around to find the appetising fish. There was no mackerel, but there was some proof Chalida had succeeded.

Understanding illness

» Nine-year-old Otto has an illness that causes him to experience uncontrollable twitches and compulsive swearing. He was diagnosed by a psychiatrist with Tourette syndrome, which causes tics. Otto's tics started after his father abandoned him and he had to live with his grandma. At school, Otto was bullied by classmates and had to move to three different schools. The boy was treated by psychiatrist Dr Stephen Stone and psychologist Lisa Yodmon at Barnette Hospital in London.

» The talent show The Star has been on the small screen for 12 years, and has proved hugely popular with audiences. However, it’s surprising that in all that time, the programme has only ever had two female winners. One of those, Radubdow Srinawong (Matung) who gained the first place crown in 2015, is also the youngest ever winner. There can be no doubt that she deserved her success, however. She may be small, but her big voice absolutely blew the audience away.

» Worranit Thawornwong (Mook) has risen to fame as an actress since making her breakthrough in last year’s popular TV series Ugly Duckling: Perfect Match. But despite her obvious acting skills, she would rather be known for her singing abilities. Before her success on the small screen, she was a cover singer with the group Be Elegance and a trainee at GMM Grammy. Fans may also be surprised to discover that it is her beautiful voice on Perfect Match’s soundtrack, “Ma Tan Waela Por Dee (On Time).”
