Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 05/04/2017

» On March 28, there were updates for iOS (10.3) that introduced AFPS: the new Apple File System, which is expected eventually to expand to macOS. There may be some gains in space and speed but these are expected to be small. Also updated were macOS (10.12.4), WatchOS and tvOS.

Startup key combinations

» The arrival of the Touch Bar with the MacBook Pro brought into focus how some of us use our devices, especially personal computers. The emphasis here is on the word, "personal". Over the last three months (a MacBook Pro arrived in my hands in the last days of November) I have been able to incorporate the features that the Touch Bar provides into my workflow.

BeatsX: Not the phones I am looking for

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 08/03/2017

» When Apple announced the AirPods, the W1 chip was also for Beats devices, including the BeatsX earphones. Like Apple AirPods these were delayed several weeks. 15-inch MacBook Pro a delightful experience

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 30/11/2016

» Every time Apple releases a new product there is a rush to print. There have been thousands of comments about the new MacBook Pro and what is wrong with it (and Apple), but much of that wasted effort is by those who haven't even seen the device, let alone touched it.

Ordering a MacBook Pro; and Affinity Pro for Windows

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 16/11/2016

» Reporting on Apple is sometimes perverse. Only a few hours after last week's eXtensions column, Apple opened the doors on its Thai site and the MacBook Pro went on sale here. Although the US site still showed delays of four-to-five weeks, the time was two-to-three weeks for those ordering here.
