Let there be light

» If there is one thing Hungary is becoming known for, it is how this neoclassical, landlocked country is unexpectedly becoming the capital of projection mapping artists. Four prominent groups which hail from Budapest are considered among the top 10 projection artists in the world, and Limelight, which has created the "Beautiful Bangkok" 3D mapping currently showing on the Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard, is also one of those pioneers.

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 22/12/2017

» Classics are forever, but who wouldn't want to inject some colour into their accessories come the holidays? It's only during this time of year that the excuse for getting a new handbag in hot red, with glitter, plumes, fur, embroidery, sequins, extra shine and everything in between is legitimate, especially when it's going to look dated soon enough. But if you've never been the timeless type to begin with, we've searched for something a little more special, befitting this holiday season. Here are Elite's picks of the most exclusive and eye-popping arm candy currently in stores -- just in time for you to treat yourself or that lovely lady in your life.

» With the latest movie in cinemas, Star Wars mania is in full swing. Lots of licenced products will be available now, but if you're the discreet fan who also wants something that's also chic, minimalist and of higher quality, New York fashion house Rag & Bone has released a capsule collection in collaboration with Disney to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. While referencing Star Wars, the shapes and aesthetics stay true to the brand's look -- making for clothes perfect for the modern Jedi. The founder and creative director of Rag & Bone, Marcus Wainwright, tells us about the galactic inspirations behind each piece, now available at Rag & Bone, EmQuartier.

The go-to fashion brand for petite ladies

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 09/12/2017

» Sweet and petite, Rassarine "Kathy" Tanachaiwattanapokin makes the kind of clothes that are perfect for small, dainty women. Although her feminine brand, Made of Fabric, has been around since 2011, it was only this season that the founder/designer presented her autumn/winter collection, "Dreamless Romance", with a big, rosy splash at CentralWorld. With a childhood spent around fabrics and a master's degree in fashion from Istituto Maragoni, Rassarine has turned her passion into a popular label -- so much so that Chinese tourists make her store a stop on their travel itineraries. Using herself as the prototypical model, you'll be sure to always find itsy-bitsy pieces here (Kathy loves short hemlines because they make legs look longer). We talked to the designer about her brand's history and why the girlie girls love it.

The Japanese master

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 09/12/2017

» Just because you're outside of the capital doesn't mean you can't enjoy star-studded dining too. Last month, InterContinental Hua Hin Resort kicked off their series of world-class dining events by bringing in two-Michelin-starred chef Takagi Kazuo, of Kyoto Cuisine Takagi, for a special traditional menu paired with sake. The master of a rare Kyoto cuisine, or "Kyo-ryori", presented a feast that looked like a gorgeous picture of autumn on a plate -- using Tasmanian sea's salmon, abalone, scallops from Hokkaido and hand-picked autumn leaves straight from Kyoto. Showcasing the beauty of Japan's former capital, the beautifully-plated dishes were not a replica of his menus served back in Japan, but a tweaked version that was adapted to suit Thai culture and style. Befitting this grand occasion, the meal was served at La Residence, the hotel's colonial jewel. Before he jetted off to the next fancy dinner he was cooking, we had a quick chat with the chef about Kyoto cuisine and his work ideals.

Hip, cool and happening

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 24/11/2017

» Over the past few weeks, one particular investment move from our shores -- somewhat equivalent to Crazy Rich Asian's Astrid going on a haute couture shopping rampage -- has been the talk of the town. Thailand's prominent real estate developer, Sansiri, has just invested 2.8 billion baht to buy shares in six of the some of the world's hippest, coolest and innovative names: Standard International, One Night, Hostmaker, JustCo, Farmshelf and Monocle. It's a result of stagnant sales back home and Sansiri's strategy to offer an all-inclusive living solution to their customers, as their president Srettha Thavisin explains. To choose to invest in companies that are young, inventive and trendy, however, shows how the real estate giant has their sights set on the tech-savvy millennials of tomorrow.

A queen's life

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 20/11/2017

» As I am watching The Crown, only one burning, pressing query hammers against my conscience. In fact, it is the very same question that blazed through my mind as I watched the Minions animated film two years ago: What would Queen Elizabeth II have thought of herself in this portrayal?
