Suga/Agust D release D-Day on the way

» Suga -- BTS member and talented rapper, songwriter, composer and producer in his own right -- has set a release date for his latest solo album. D-Day, under Suga's pseudonym Agust D, will be available from Friday. The 10-track album completes a trilogy that began with Agust D, the performer's self-titled debut album in 2016 which was followed by D-2 in 2020.

BTS, the seven-member boy band, continues to break recording history and open new frontiers for Asian artists. In March, IFPI, the organisation that represents the recorded music industry worldwide, named BTS as its Global Recording Artist of the Year 2020. The septet won over Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd and Billie Eilish, who ranked second to fifth place respectively. The boy band was the first Asian artist to win the IFPT Global Recording Artist of the Year Award.

Out of the shadow of the Cold War

» The Cold War saw the birth of the persuasive power of cinema. In the early 1950s, the United States decided that psychological warfare was needed to thwart communist threats in Southeast Asia and so it set up a propaganda unit to produce movies, documentary films, cartoons and pamphlets to provoke a red scare among the people. The United States Information Services (Usis) was also active in Thailand during this decade of sinister geopolitics. Its main responsibility was to produce a number of narrative and documentary films which would be screened around the country to promote American-style democracy and caution people against the deadly dominance of communism.
