» The House of Representatives approved the amended version of the bill which will eventually set up the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to regulate telecoms in Thailand; the MPs voted 228-2 to pass the 13-year-old issue back to the senate, where it is possible _ don't get excited, but it is possible the bill could move forward; the new NBTC rules will be 11 members, appointed from various public and government sectors, aged below 70; it now appears there is no major hurdle to legislation setting up this body _ which by law was supposed to exist in 1997; the next hurdle will be picking the 11 very powerful, highly tempted members of the NBTC, which might not take another 13 years.
