» Yesterday was the day most Thai mothers had their moments, as it was National Mother's Day. Unfortunately, mine was not among the many happy mothers, as I couldn't make it to visit her this year. And a promise was made on the phone that I will make it up to her as soon as possible.

» Every time I call my mother, she never fails to try to convince me to consider moving back to our peaceful home town in Phatthalung. She believes that if you are not strong enough physically, spiritually and financially, Bangkok is going to eat you alive. I told her that after the high-profile murder case of Akeyuth Anchanbutr, the image of our city _ where the body was buried _ may not be as "peaceful" as before. I also said my love of Bangkok is too deep and that I am not going to move away from this city any time soon.

» After my Facebook was flooded with pictures of friends and acquaintances enjoying Songkran celebrations, I woke up last Monday to witness cyberspace full of stories about the bomb in Boston. After three people were killed and 178 injured in the blast, many people turned to their Facebook page and dedicated it to pray for Boston.

» Judging from the sweat dripping down on to my keyboard, I'm certain Bangkok has become too hot to handle. The phrase "global warming" has echoed in my head over and over, like a chant from hell. It is happening now _ and what luck, we have no way out.
