The AI game

» Arthit Suriyawongkul has got a pretty impressive list of achievements that seems to destine him to be an AI expert. An alumni of Thammasat Univeristy, he got his Bachelor of Science in IT then went on to study Cognitive Science and Natural Technology at the University of Edinburgh. He returned to Thailand after the 2006 coup and was one of the people who lent his voice to help protest the Computer-Related Crime Act of 2007. He also got a Masters degree for Anthropology from his alma mater. Now, he is the AI Research Engineering Manager at Wisesight and is one of the people that helped develop a new social media analytic tool called "Social Seeing". With his degree and vast experience in IT, as well as being well-versed in all things AI, we didn't just talk to him about the new software he helped develop. We also talked about privacy in the social media stage and if it's at all possible that we'll be slaves to our AI overlords in the next few years or so.

» The Wolfpack has howled its way to victory in the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2016 in Hong Kong, bringing home the 1st-runner up award, being the first Thai team to have won such an honour. Wolfpack is a team of four Thammasat University students, led by 21-year-old BBA senior Pakapol "Max" Thangthongchin. Prior to this success, Pakapol was also the winner of the recent L'Oreal Marketing Plan Competition 2016. Schooled in Singapore in his teens, Pakapol has mastered the art of self-discipline and being goal-oriented at a young age. Guru chats with the young rising star about his recent win and beyond.

At the forefront of ShopBack is Kawin Prachanukul, a young and ambitious marketing guru who is the co-founder and country head of ShopBack Thailand. He was raised in Bangkok and has a degree in marketing from Thammasat Business School. He's been in e-commerce since leaving university, joining the operations team at Lazada, and then moving to Uber in 2014. Through his expertise and experience, he's made the leap to country head of this revolutionary start-up and was thrilled to give Guru the round-up on ShopBack.
