family visa

By Anonymous, Created on: 02/01/2004, Last updated on: 12/09/2006

» When the Thai government will allow foreigners with Thai spouse and children to own a one year visa without the need to travel out of the country every 3 month or to show 800 thousands bahts in a bank account, this is very unfair and even most of the Thais don't earn this sum per year, why this discrimination...

    • Anonymous commented : Thailand spelling its guts all over the place on the country being (one of) the first countries to sign the UN treaty, really are in breach of international treaties when treating other nationals in a different manner then their own nationals. When in breach of the UN charter, also in breach of Thai law. But not in breach of Thai pratices. But the government don`t care, do they no....? No government do..... I want to mention the 200 Bath fee at national parks for farang versus 20 Bath for Thai nationals. It is not the money, it`s the disgrace! Not to mention my Thai birth wife, presumably armed and dangerous as she was holding a scandi passport for her collaboration with the enemy, was fined for two days overstay last time she went home to visit her parents and rest of the family. I contacted the human rights department at the UN on the matter. Never even had an answer back.

    • Anonymous commented : In my wife's family its tradition that they invite the groom to be in the house, and ask him about his job, what about his family, do he have a house, what are his plans for the future, can he support the daughter, what gaurantees can he offer; When they are not shure about him they ask a big dowry, when he is trusted, they ask a small dowry. Anyhaow the dont keep the dowry for themselves, but give it to the daughter, so have some protection for the future if things go wrong, or they are bad luck in life. When the youngest son of my wife like to married whit a Thai girl from Cjinese origin(Teachuw) they did not like him at first because his skin is rather dark, even he had a good carreer andhis own house. They asked a really big dowry. The invited my wife to visit them. My wife went to them togheter whit her two sisters. The moment they realize that my wife was Teachow also, and come from a good family, the immedeatly stopped to asked a dowry. As a westerner its very strange for me. But I think its have some benifits, They like to protect their daughters future. When a daughter of my wife like to married, she interviewed the groomto be, and she find out that he could not be trusted, so she asked thet the man build a house for her daughter, and 1 million Bath in cash. Of course the man could not provide it, and the marroedge could not take place. later the deughter find out that her mother took the right decision. The man did have some other wife whit a baby somewhere. I did not have to pay any dowry, the family of my wife never asked me something, they treath me like one of the family; whe I visit them they cook the thinghs I like. When I go shopping they go whit me otherwise theires a danger that I pay too much. When i visit them I feel warm, and again I've been married for 30 years, they never asked me something. Maybe its an exeption, but I think there are many family's like that in Thailand. Maybe its because I did meet my wife in Europe, and I visit my Thai family for the first time after 10 years.

    • Stense commented : Why all this letters; from me to you, and again and again. Why not read the Land Law? 3000+ property for sale, only in Pattaya, why? Most of the purchase contract in name of a Bath 10.000 company, blue eyed foreigners in the hands of corrupt property and so name law company; "Now you can buy and you will be the owner of house and land!" Thousands in the trap, no time to consult the very simplest facts, the Thai Land Law! After a lot have been "owners" for more than 25 years, in five years time they can take what is on the top of the land, put it into containers and ship it to UK or the USA.If you are a so named buyer, read the documents very carefully, this as a lot of people who after 25 years have understood better, by so desperate to find stupid people who do not know the rules. If they use an agent, foreign or Thai, they will never tell the truth, as they have their commission. Everything in Thailand is "short time," and nothing will change, and with the royal / military Government we have today. You will have the same climate and cost of living in next door countries, and many of those having consulted the International Dr. in law have change their mind, and purchased land and constructed their home in a country like Malaysia. ( I am renting, and will never ever invest in property in Thailand.)

cool kids and their motorbikes, new trend !?!

By pachangamac042, Created on: 28/11/2008, Last updated on: 12/02/2009

» There is a brand new trend in the village I stay up here near Chaiyaphum. Young people strip their motorbikes of everything “you don’t really need” like; lights, protections, exhaust pipes, silencers, mirrors and so on and then go on the streets an “do the monkey” on their bikes, specially...

    • pachangamac042 commented : Only 700 kids? Just being sarcastic, it is not funny at all. I feel sorry for this kids as they never get the chance to grow up. For the families, well I do not have many words left over. First you are careless parents and then you mourn? Something is badly wrong with this society. And I thought that Thais love their kids. Regarding the police, well kids normally do not have much money to fine them, so why bother? Anyways, it is not the kids mistake, that their parents do not care about them. But what about letting the parents do some time? Let us say, 1 week behind bars each time the police stops a kid on a bike with no helmet and a 500 Bath fine. Should be incentive enough for the men in brown. They need motorbikes to get to school? What a lame excuse. Is the live of a kid in Thailand not worth anything at all? If at least they would insist on the kids wearing helmets. How expensive would it be for the Thai government to provide school buses? Are school buses worth more then the live of 700 young Thais? Regarding the age for driving a bike in this country? It seems that you may be old enough as soon as you can walk. I asked my wife about it, her answer; 13 or 18 or so! I thought that the legal age to drive a bike is 16, by the way. But honestly, no idea? Our neighbour kid started to drive his mom pick up truck with her consents with the age of 15. Nobody seems to really care. Sad Thailand

    The Value of a Tourist.

In most other countries you get a resident permit, the best you can obtain in Thailand is the One year retirement permit , "work" and Expat.(if you qualify); who is the big spenders, those coming for two weeks or us taking in on an average Bath 100.000,00+ every month on a Thai bank account with 0% interest How many hundred thousand FOREIGNER have Thailand as their first home Thai Immigration can tell the Thai how much WE contribute with, understandably including HOW many Thai mouth each in this in other countries "Residents" feed BUT ARE THEY WILLING TO DO THAT, better is it persons on the FORUM who knows the figure? • Stense commented :

Tourist trash with money? You'd better believe it. If you go to Pattaya, your jaw can sometimes hit the floor listening to some of the alcoholics in the bars. How the hell did these uneducated low-lifes get money for a return flight and 3 to 6 months living expenses... and more to the point, what about the job they have to go back to? (Excluding the retired; Borat: "You are a retard?"). Last time I was in the Pig and Whistle it was a group of WINDOW CLEANERS who had this miraculous disposable income... Add in the increasing amount of Russian visitors into this scenario (interesting that a German poster should get so annoyed about their increasing numbers over here, can't think why!). And the answer? THAILAND ATTRACTS CRIMINALS.[/quote:32h45niw] Oh, You moral crusader - Who are You, that You judge people as low-lifes etc. ? How somebody can make money for long stay in Thailand ? Easily. For example - in Europe - it is just enough to have independent job - just work for You - like plumber or even window cleaner and after 6 months You have money to live in Thailand for next 6 months - no problem Russian visitors ? Many countries in EU tolerate them because of money, but definitely not like them - They do not know how to behave in polite way - most of them Tourist trash with money? Pattaya is not a problem - only 10 pct. of prostitution in Thailand is consumed by farangs - 90 pct. is for locals. Sorry, how long have you lived in Pattaya It is a few so named semi official figures on clients of prostitutes conducted by a University: Bangkok, 60% local clients ( far lower prices for married Thai men, this as many have punch card with the same) and 40% foreigners.Pattaya, 90% foreigners and 10% Thai. From where do you have your "consume figures," better what would a place like Pattaya have looked like, this without tourists and foreigners having selected the city firstly for their retirement If you go to Soy 9, the main police station and ask a question on prostitution, they will tell you that it is "No prostitution in Pattaya" - this said, if you give a average officer you can speak English with Bath 1000+, he might say:" Sorry, we have probably 80% of all ladies under 40 from Issan, but those we do not count." , and good luck with your studies. One suggestion - VISA only for people with master degree - but You will be very suprised how many of those educated will go to spent their money in Pattaya[/quote:32h45niw]
