What's new with Chu?

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 18/03/2016

» Five years ago, when Chirayu Na Ranong opened the first branch of Chu at Asok (2/F, Exchange Tower, BTS Asok), he meant for it to be a place for desserts and chocolate. If you look at its menu now, you might not be able to guess that.

» I recently saw a Facebook friend of mine, a much younger girl still in university, celebrating her "three months anniversary" with her boyfriend. She made it as big a deal as getting married or something.

Baby, when the lights go out

» I loved clubbing. I used to party a lot in my early 20s, until the ageing process deprived me of the ability to stay awake, much less active, past midnight. Break a sweat, not the bank

» Another year has come around, and apart from being a year older, I do not really feel any real change coming. The weather will still be record-breakingly hot and humid in March. Winter will refuse to arrive in November. It's just so predictable.

Home is where the hope is

» Growing up, most of us were taught not to talk to strangers, much less homeless people. They are potentially dangerous or mentally ill, we were told.

#FuneralTalk

» My grandfather passed away when I was eight, and while I can’t remember much about his funeral, I remember thinking all of my aunties looked a bit odd without their usual make-up and hairdos. They told me they weren’t allowed to dress up while mourning.

Down to earth

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 29/01/2016

» There is something about having greenness in your home. No, we’re not talking about propping up your Christmas tree a few weeks a year. Green is one of the most soothing colours (more so when it’s on a traffic light) and, being in the centre of the spectrum, the colour of balance.
