Diary of a mad prai

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 01/08/2013

» For every single person you put onto the streets, we can put ten. Every time that you march in the streets, we can shake the concrete pavement with our rubber sandals tenfold. We will hound you. We will intimidate you. We will push, shove and knock you down. You people wearing masks like little kids. You think you are legion? No, we are legion.

A role reversal in this ship of fools

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 04/08/2013

Amnesty: crime without punishment

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 08/08/2013

» In Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment, young Rodion was getting away with murder. However, his guilty conscience eventually compelled him to surrender to the law. The land of smiles, or something else?

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 11/08/2013

» Over the past two years or so, anti-government groups have launched many rallies and campaigns to regain power. Thus far, they've all failed to gain much momentum.

Welcome to Thakland

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 22/08/2013

» Amnesty is so last week. It will come back again. But this week is all about the proposed change to the way senators are selected, which down the road could very well lead to a democratic dictatorship of "Thakland".

Getting over those tribal instincts

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 12/05/2013

» Thai culture still relies far too much on relationships, rather than ideologies. Time and again we see democratic ideals sacrificed for the sake of relationships on both sides of the political divide. This is why our political structure is often termed a feudal system rather than a true parliamentary democracy.

Just reflections of ourselves

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 16/05/2013

» The wonderful thing about representative democracy is that, not only do we get exactly what we vote for, but the people sitting in government also represent exactly the people walking in the streets. It’s like a reflection in the mirror.

UDD can bring us change to believe in

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 19/05/2013

» The accusation is often made that Thailand can never change. However, over the past six years, propelled by political crisis, there have been many changes, which some some would say are for the better. Some would argue the opposite, but at the end of the day it is up to the Thai people to steer the direction of change.
