» Since the internet was popularised in the 1990s, many have speculated on the death of newspapers and magazines. For the past two and a half decades, the printed press in the US and UK has been fighting a slow decline in readership and circulation. Thailand is no exception. With regards to the internet, one of the many challenges that a newspaper faces is free access to news. Individuals can generate news by posting comments on blogs, publishing first-hand accounts or uploading interviews. Once on the web, a post becomes available worldwide. For a newspaper that must pay editors, writers, journalists, and all the other costs associated with printing, the economy of the internet is giving the newspaper a run for its money.
