A fond farewell to the poster people

Oped, Roger Crutchley, Published on 08/02/2026

» For a couple of months the streets in Bangkok and throughout Thailand have been decorated with posters of political candidates. But now the Big Day has arrived and soon the posters will disappear. In a strange sort of way, I will miss their presence as they were at least something to look at when stuck in the traffic. Parroting lies

Oped, Postbag, Published on 28/11/2025

» Re: "Rising heat needs urgent response", (Opinion, Nov 24). After repeating the obligatory but egregiously false lie that this year was the hottest on record, the UN climate alarmists claim, "By 2060, under a high-emissions scenario, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mongolia, Myanmar, Turkey and Uzbekistan could lose more than 70% of their glacier mass. It's time to go geoengineering on climate issue

Oped, Gwynne Dyer, Published on 05/06/2025

» This is the second anniversary of the arrival of the emergency but practically nobody is mentioning it. Instead people are choosing to worry about more familiar problems like global trade wars, the rise of fascism and genocidal wars. It's kind of a global displacement activity: if we don't mention it, maybe it will go away.

Fine-tune visa policy

Oped, Editorial, Published on 21/01/2025

» In the wake of reports about the kidnapping of several Chinese citizens by scam syndicates operating across the border in Myanmar, Senator Wanchai Ekpornpich urged the government to urgently review Thailand's visa-free policy, which was recently expanded to include visitors from 93 countries and territories.

Put cancer patients first

Oped, Editorial, Published on 24/12/2024

» The meeting between the National Health Security Office (NHSO) and major hospitals struggling with an influx of patients under the agency's Cancer Anywhere (CA) scheme will test the limits of how far critical care services can be extended.
