    FAO Director-General Explores ASEAN's Largest Wholesale Agricultural Market

    » Mr Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, accompanied by Mr Pisan Pongsapitch, Secretary-General of the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards, recently visited Talaad Thai, the largest agricultural wholesale market in ASEAN. Talaad Thai spans a total area of 543 rai, located on Phaholyothin Road in Pathum Thani province. There are over 12,000 tonnes of agricultural product volume circulated in the market, with more than 100,000 sellers and buyers, and a daily turnover of more than 290 million baht. The FAO Director-General and group spent almost 2 hours discussing and touring several areas in Talaad Thai, such as the Seasonal Fruit Market, Vegetable Market, and laboratory, which serves as the quality control unit for all products in Talaad Thai. On this occasion, Mr Pradit Phataraprasit, Advisory Chairman of the Thai Agricultural Wholesale Market Association, along with executives from Thai Agro Exchange Company Limited, namely Mr Suthep Wongvorazathe, Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Board, Mr Surapong Supunpong, Director, and Mr Chokchai Kolsrichai, Managing Director, extended a warm welcome.
