» In less than a month, political activist Sirawith Seritiwat has been assaulted twice by a group of unknown attackers. The most recent attack occurred in broad daylight, and the hand of the law has yet to reach any of the culprits. This is outrageous.

» I must admit to thinking that the "Amazing Thailand" slogan was a bit over the top when it was first introduced by the tourism authorities about two decades ago. But over the years I have grown quite fond of it in a funny sort of way, probably because it is more or less accurate.

Every commercial news outlet is financially controlled by advertising interests and the editorial focus is directed by executive concerns.
