» Seventy years have passed since Robert Schuman, the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, delivered a speech that transformed the course of European history. In simple language, he offered a vision of a united continent and a practical approach to achieving it, recognising that a Europe at peace with itself and its neighbours would contribute a great deal to global stability and prosperity.
