A helping hand for our wasted food

News, Anchalee Kongrut, Published on 12/07/2017

» Every time I visit a supermarket, I am bemused by the sight of microwave meals such as fried rice or kao ka prao gai wrapped neatly in plastic containers. A question that always pops in my mind is: Why do we (Thais) have to consume these ready-made foods?

An election singing the same old tune

News, Anchalee Kongrut, Published on 05/06/2017

» The harsh public criticism against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his "four questions" gives an impression that people in country look forward to an election. News, Anchalee Kongrut, Published on 12/06/2017

More jail time won't prevent drink-driving

News, Anchalee Kongrut, Published on 05/07/2017

» Last week, the Road Safety Policy Foundation launched a campaign for harsher punishments of drink-drivers, calling for authorities to give them immediate jail terms without suspension. For me, the campaign confirms two things. First, our law enforcement has failed to deter people from driving under the influence of alcohol. Second, as the long weekend approaches, the campaign suggests that it could be yet another period of carnage on the roads from accidents.

Who's keeping tabs on Obor mission?

News, Anchalee Kongrut, Published on 15/05/2017

» Mark my words. The acronym "OBOR" will become a new global buzz word before long. No, it has nothing to do with a new model of mobile phone.

Tourism can be made sustainable

News, Anchalee Kongrut, Published on 01/05/2017

» On the surface, the Andaman sea off Phi Phi Island is calm and clear, its emerald green colour is ever attractive. Yet, the underwater situation with an extensive area of bleached coral reef make this popular world-class dive site a red-alert tourism spot.
