    Dubliner pub closed

By modsquad, Created on: 30/05/2016, Last updated on: 29/08/2016

» Passed by the place yesterday Suk Soi 33/1 and saw a sign on the door "indefinite renovation". Looks as though it's gone for good! Shame as there was a good band that played Sundays there for the last 10 years or so. Place never really took off after it moved to this location a few years...

    • modsquad commented : Passed by the premises the other night and saw where construction is on for a soon to be opened pub called, 'herrity's! Most likely the same owners from the Dubliner?

    • Tomster commented : Same guys as who have Hanrahan's and a couple of others have taken it over apparently, they will no doubt sink a fair bit of cash into it and upgrade it quite a bit, as is their way.

    Cancel water festival?

By modsquad, Created on: 23/02/2016, Last updated on: 25/02/2016

» Saw a story that said it’s getting drier, don’t waste water. If that’s the case shouldn’t the upcoming Songkran festival be canceled this year? The article says, “Can you help solve the problem? Yes. Don't waste water.” I'll bet authorities thinking is that the festival generates so...

    • IsanEmmet commented : Certainly it should already have been considered by the authorities as this situation was apparent a year ago. Bet you it hasn't as they only panic as things are falling off the edge. I agree that the festival should only be for one day, the same day across the country.

    • robnu commented : If they can't get the farmers to not plant the off season crop to save water what makes you think they will cancel the water festival that celebrates the patron of the rice crops?

Another great musician due here at the end of the month

By modsquad, Created on: 04/02/2016, Last updated on: 21/02/2016

» Thailand is pretty fortunate as Santana is making it’s only Asian concert date at the end of this month in Bangkok on the 29th. Live music shows like this are worth the trouble to go to, even if the venue is somewhat far from the city centre. I understand the well-known Thai group, Carabao will...

    • modsquad commented : Santana interview and story with Bangkok Post before his upcoming show Mind, body and Soul Sacrifice Carlos Santana will soon play in Bangkok for the sixth time and at 68 is still full of the energy he had at Woodstock. "“A lot of the people that played at Woodstock have no energy. They walk like they’ve surrendered already, like they’re rolled over. I don’t walk like that. I will never walk like that. Diana Krall this Friday

    » Possibly another good live show http://www.bangkokpost.com/lifestyle/wh ... ngkok-2016

    • terryt commented : Was our wedding anniversary so we splurged on tickets to the show. Overall it was a great evening, albeit short one. Sound was very good too. Concert started at approximately 8:20 pm and was finished by 10pm. We both felt the concert was over too quickly. We wanted to hear more. For the kind of money one pays to see a concert by well-known entertainers these days, they should play longer shows. We both wondered why an entertainer would come halfway round the world, and play for such a short time. We didn’t feel we got our monies worth! Part of our feeling of feeling short changed also has to do with the effort / time in getting to the show. Granted the show was in the downtown area, however, on a Friday night (any night in Bangkok) it’s a chore getting there. Went by SkyTrain,( which is the only sensible way to go) and the trains and stations are just packed. One has to walk a long way through a shopping mall, take lifts, escalators to get to the Siam Paragon concert hall. We'll think twice about attending concerts in future.

How is 90-day report by mail working?

By modsquad, Created on: 21/08/2015, Last updated on: 27/05/2016

» Can any of you share your experience with the new 90-day visa report address by mail? I''m sure there are those who would like to hear from some of you who have tried out the new way. Smooth sailing, problems?? Thanks. [img:vj73uu0n]http://www.bangkokpost.com/media/content/20150821/1173116.jpg[/img:vj73uu0n]...

    • gcrutchr commented : It is working well. The date stamped on return receipt is not 90 days from original due date sent to them. The date stamped is the date they process your report. It is important you send your report in about 3 weeks before due date (website says 15 days) to ensure you get receipt back before expiration date. Otherwise, reporting is simple. I usually send it by EMS to ensure immigration gets report. Cost is much less than going to Lak Si to report.

    • GDE commented : I've used it three times with no problems here in Chiang Mai, and saved myself money, time, and stress. I should have done it a long time ago. And I want to express my admiration for the Immigration staff at Chiang Mai. If only more of Thai enterprises had their professionalism and friendly manners, the Kingdom would be a much better place.
