Countryside mayhem

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 20/04/2018

» The latest entry to the Far Cry franchise is finally here after much anticipation. Its predecessor, Far Cry 4, delivered a pretty ruthless villain, a gorgeous open-world environment, but a story that didn't appeal to some and a gameplay that was criticised as being too similar to the previous game. The question now is whether Far Cry 5 avoided these pitfalls.

Clasically new

» Remember Nokia, the original sleek, cool and virtually indestructible mobile phone? The company that ruled the mobile phone industry in its heyday and gave us the game Snake right in the palm of our hands and also that memorable ringtone? For years after the smartphone came to being, Nokia disappeared from the radar. Now, they're making a comeback. The Nokia 8 is their most advanced model and though it may not match up with the likes of the latest releases of Apple and Samsung, it's a worthy and cheaper alternative.

Power in your hands

» It's weird that we seem to have come full circle in terms of the size of our phones. Small and sleek was what people aimed for in the past, but now we want them to be bigger so that our video watching doesn't suffer with bad resolution. At the same time though, we don't want anything so bulky that makes it uncomfortable to carry it around in our pockets.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 20/10/2017

» Three years after the original was released, Destiny 2 finally hit shelves after much excitement. Bungie's mythic sci-fi FPS (that's "first-person shooter" for you noobs) stays true to its roots in being chock-filled with multiplayer features and making you obsessed with making sure your character's power level reaches high numbers by getting the rarest and most powerful loot through quests and public events. Of course, there's also the campaign for you to play through, but is this going to be another case of "expansion overload" like the first game? Does Destiny 2's multiplayer features make you want to play it over and over again, even if you're done with the story? Basically, the real question is: "Is this worth my money?"

There's an app for that!?

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 07/04/2017

» Our phones are our lives. We feel so lost when we're without them. We've also got apps on our phones that make life so much easier or, in the very least, give us some form of entertainment when we're bored. In fact, we may have a lot of useless apps on our phones right now -- apps that we don't really use but we're too attached to delete. And since we're Guru, we've got a list of apps that are basically just a waste of memory space yet are so quirky or hilarious that you need them on your phone.

I'm Batman (kind of)

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 03/03/2017

» This past month, we saw the release of what was possibly the best movie featuring the Caped Crusader: The Lego Batman Movie (yeah, move over, Christopher Nolan). While we everyday people don't have the skills nor the money to become the Dark Knight, these gadgets may bring us ever-so-slightly closer to being the masked vigilante Bangkok needs. Not included: Batsuit with batnipples and tragic origin story.
