Living in la la land with an untimely tune
News, Sirinya Wattanasukchai, Published on 13/12/2017
» I love how Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang cares for the younger generation of the City of Angels and also his vision to make them decent citizens with strict discipline. Last week, the governor announced a plan to launch a CD with a song aimed at preaching to schoolchildren about punctuality. CD handouts are for nearly 500 city schools.

Time for some road justice, if for a day
News, Sirinya Wattanasukchai, Published on 21/09/2017
» Friday is World Car-Free Day. But the annual event will pass by without any state activities. BRT chop a step in wrong direction
News, Sirinya Wattanasukchai, Published on 08/02/2017
» At first I thought it was the seven-year itch that made the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) attempt to break up with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service. But subsequently, I've realised it has something to do with City Hall's unequal treatment of different groups of commuters.

A toast to our world No.1 traffic rank
News, Sirinya Wattanasukchai, Published on 23/02/2017
» There is some big news for us Bangkokians, and City Hall should offer up a toast this week. Thailand, or Bangkok to be more specific, has once again been listed top of a global list.

Making the best of life in the flood lane
News, Sirinya Wattanasukchai, Published on 05/10/2016
» I am sure brake lights and wheels of cars -- be they Japanese, European or American -- are the latest hip art fad in Bangkok. In the past few weeks, my Facebook wall has been bombarded with photos of a flooded Bangkok with commuters stuck in paralysed traffic. (Actually, bad traffic is one of the rare occasions when rich and poor people share the same plight that may last for hours. The rich are far better off though, confined in an air-conditioned private space with some music and probably nice food.)
