    Another large drugs seizure

    » Jetsada Thanee, aged 19, was arrested in front of the Darunibada Mosque, Suklhumvit Road, whilst talking on his mobile phone. He confessed that he had bought illegal substances from Chudom Ngampaiboonsab, also 19, who lives in Naklua. A police inspection of the room revealed a total of 5,000 methamphetamine tablets. Police say they are still searching for the principal dealer.

    Tearful Russian loses cash and documents

    » Two men in black shirts and pants fled after divesting a Russian woman of her handbag containing 5,000 baht, a mobile phone, hotel keys and personal documents.  Miss Alina Gnatyshina, aged 21, said he was with her male partner in Soi 6, Pattaya, when two nameless criminals on a motorbike made their unspeakable move.  They then drove away at high speed.  Unfortunately no witnesses managed to remember the license number of the get-away bike so the chances of finding the villains are remote to say the least. None the less, Pattaya police will do their best.

    Troubled man retreats to electric pole

    » Police spent two hours talking to a man perched on a high-voltage pole before persuading him to come down and visit a psychiatrist. Vijit Saothong, a 26-year-old hotel worker, had sought refuge in a high place after suffering an overwhelming number of problems including arguments with his wife, a constant toothache, a 65,000 baht debt and disagreements with his relatives. At first he refused to be dislodged and demanded that the police switch off a strong light. After talking to his wife on a mobile phone he agreed to go with her to a hospital for psychiatric assessment.
