    The beauty of big

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 09/09/2015

» Art-appreciating and collecting couple Akapol Sudasna and Supamas Phahulo's decision whether to build a gallery or not was cemented after running into Wisut Ponnimit one day. When the comic artist agreed to be their first featured artist, construction for the new space, which would become a massive, trendy white box, would begin. Sitting on a corner in Sathorn Soi 1 are two exhibition rooms -- the main hall could easily host a concert while the smaller side is a space and retail shop. Hoping to cultivate new collectors along the way and to get more people interested in art, Bangkok Citycity Gallery will be showcasing contemporary works that also appeal to the masses beyond the art crowd.

    Sampling the splendid

» Could you imagine a time when Bangkok was not flooded by dessert cafés, and when parfaits were considered revolutionary? For a moment when you'd be hard-pressed to find a dessert destination that served anything besides ice cream, you'd have to take a time machine and go back 10 years -- to before Kacha Bros came along to dot our landscape with parfait café Sfree and roll-cake authority Kyo Roll En.

    Tailored eyewear

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 29/02/2016

» When you sell glasses that don't use a single screw -- that can be sat on, bent and even left under the sun for hours in awkward angles and not break -- the product clearly speaks for itself. In fact, Berlin-based eyewear company Mykita is so refreshingly free from marketing gloss that their spring summer campaign for 2016 simply uses the founder's friend's daughter, his dog and his dog-sitter as models.

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 31/10/2014

» Leave it to the electronic tongue and nose to distinguish how deliriously delicious or insanely crappy a certain tom yum tastes. If Thai food is to have a distinctive uniform recognised by the whole world, well, a standard's got to start somewhere right?
