» Re: "Thamanat wins PM's backing", (BP, Sept 11). As a reformist, Prime Minister Pra-yut Chan-o-cha should quickly verify Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Capt Thamanat Prompow's claims that he didn't (a) plead guilty to charges of drug trafficking in Australia and (b) didn't serve a four-year jail sentence for his crime, thus disqualifying him from office.

    A taxing argument

    News, Postbag, Published on 24/03/2019

» A reader in his March 23 letter makes a fair comment on two-tiered pricing for foreigners. The young creative executive has won many awards, been featured in several publications and has illustrated for a handful of high street and luxury fashion brands -- but that's not his true calling. As someone who loved to draw since he was five, it was only natural that Kantapon's veins throbbed to become a full-time artist -- to draw his own creations and not what others briefed him to. After three years of working for advertising agencies, he packed his bags and headed to New York to become an artist.

News, Alan Dawson, Published on 23/04/2017

» Bangkok is a semi-province under the central regime, "governed" (literally) by a police general, Aswin Kwanmuang. He was working at City Hall when the general prime minister tapped him on the shoulder last October and dubbed him Baron of Bangkok, lord of all that the military regime doesn't want to bother with.
