    Bonjour, Loubi World!

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 30/10/2020

» For the first time ever, heel fanatics will be able to buy themselves a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes for approximately 62 baht. That's a crazy good deal, considering how a pair of shoes from this luxury high-end brand should set you back no less than 20,000 baht. The catch, however, is that all this must be done (and worn) in the Korea-based gaming application Zepeto.

    Feeling all right

B Magazine, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 26/08/2018

» There is a stillness -- borderline boring -- to Scrubb's chosen mode of visual expression. The constant of stony faces and stock-still poses that embellishes all of the band's album artwork, editorial photo shoots and magazine covers is bequeathed on us too, as Torpong "Ball" Chantabubpha and Thawatpon "Muay" Wongboonsiri laugh through gritted teeth that it is actually a strain for them to smile for the cameras or to assume the role of a dancing monkey.

    Made in China, via Bangkok

» It's not often that you get to see austere ministers of various ministries, business bigwigs, Hong Kong superstar Ray Lui (better known in Thailand as Tingli), K-pop singers and hundreds of screaming groupies all in the same room. Yet all those differing personalities came together under the flashing glitz and glam of the Thailand Headlines Person of the Year Award ceremony last month at Bangkok Convention Centre, Centara Grand.

    Puttin' on the T

» Gone are the wooden cart and seaside vibes of Vick's Weekend. That spacious corner, the equivalent of real estate gold in Qurator, the Thai designer fashion zone in EmQuartier, has now made way for another label. Alongside other big houses like Asava, Disaya and Vickteerut, you'll now be greeted with TandT -- the brainchild of Thanawut Thanasarnvimon. It's a big season for this brand that is best known for their rebellious mixture of semi-couture and street wear. Not only is their latest collaboration with Double Goose T-shirts a hit with the fashion cognoscenti, but TandT has also been the latest to join Bangkok Fashion Society this spring -- a milestone most established houses must have tacked on their wall at one point or another. With a small member list that rarely exceeds 15 names, it is undoubtedly the most exclusive club that serves as the governing body and platform for their Thai labels to grow through connections and collaborations.

    Style for daft punks

» Once upon a time, being a web designer was considered an obscure and uncommon occupation that nobody really understood. Today, the same feeling may be applied to "fashion engineer". Fashion technology is the new field to place your bets on.

    Daddy cool

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 05/12/2015

» You are prone to catching the fashion bug when you have a father who would “change his outfit four times a day, even if all he did was sit on the porch”, Pusit Patthanaprakan says of his own dressy dad.

    It's political correctness gone mad

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 25/03/2015

» Last week, legendary American comedian Jay Leno appeared on NBC's Late Night With Seth Meyers and shared an example of how college kids (in the US) are painfully politically correct these days. He tells of a day when an intern asked him what he'd like for lunch. When he asked where the interns would be picking up their food, he answered they were "getting Mexican". To which, Leno replied, "I don't really like Mexican", and the intern instantly goes, "Whoa, that's kind of racist."

    A night on the canvas

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 28/01/2015

» Entering the industrial loft on the sixth floor of Piman49 feels very much like visiting a friend's apartment in Brooklyn. The uniform traits are a given — bare cement walls, bare bricks, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and black metal netting fencing. Although the thump of hip hop blaring from behind walls might be expected, what you actually get when stepping into Paintbar Bangkok is a quiet sense of calm. It'll likely be a very different kind of night out here, because while visitors' senses slowly decrease from drinking, what's left at the end of it all will be a painting, or at least, an attempt at one.
