Use feet to generate more power

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 12/07/2023

» I believe that over the past 28 years of writing golf tips I’ve not touched on what ankles and feet do in the golf swing. However, analytics show that more power can be generated if your feet move correctly during your swing.

Cameron a Champ by some distance

    Brett Brasier, Published on 04/11/2018

» I think my dream of winning just one major will have to wait until my next life, because I need a little more time to work on my clubhead speed as it’s now about as fast as a tractor compared to the Bugatti Chiron’s & Hennessey Venom’s belonging to the fast swinging top players.

Basic steps for battling out of bunkers

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 02/04/2016

» It’s difficult to reinvent the wheel, so here’s the basics again for good sand play. With a good lie, the ball should be placed left of centre in the stance. The stance itself should be very open, with you half facing the target. This allows you to open the face of the wedge and use the ‘bounce’ or the flange of the club. Now aim around 2 inches behind the ball and swing through, taking a divot of sand. The ball will be in the middle of the divot and come out softly. The distance the ball will travel depends on the texture of the sand and how hard you swing.

The art of hitting the ball further along the fairway

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 06/03/2016

» You find most fairways, but your tee shots tend to lag far behind those of your playing partners. If the yards simply aren’t there, shift your attention from your backswing to your follow-through — in particular, to the positions of your right forearm and left elbow just after impact.

The trick of keeping your eyes off the ball

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 20/02/2016

» Here’s a question for you — why is it that we hole many more putts for par then we do for birdie? Now, while you ponder the answer, allow me to return to the benefits of looking at the hole and not the ball when putting, as there was considerable feedback on the merits of doing this after my tip last week. Basically, the concept is the same with many sports that require a round ball. You kick a football, throw a cricket ball or smash a tennis ball, instinctively after years of practice, so why do we have to look at the ball while putting!
