» In a couple of weeks, Apple will announce its third-quarter results for 2016. The conference call is scheduled for July 26, at 2pm Pacific Time, which is around 5am here. This is expected to be a poorer quarter, but so was the last one, and Apple still had a US$10 billion profit.

» Last week, Apple’s WWDC at the Moscone Center, San Francisco took place. I watched the keynote presentations live and wrote my own blow-by-blow comments on my blog, uploading live. Deadlines, however, meant I was unable to comment in last week’s Life.

» This is my third look at iLife '11, which includes GarageBand, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and iWeb. Although iTunes is a part of iLife and it integrates with the other parts, it is installed and updated separately, because of its functions as a conduit for online services and synchronising of iOS devices, like the iPhone.

» I have had two iPods on test recently: the iPod Touch and the Nano. Both have had considerable design changes inside and out. The ladies in the Siam Towers office who gave me these devices initially wanted me to have two iPod Touch units: Apple was keen to have me try out FaceTime and, although this was unsuccessful in Singapore due to problems with Wi-Fi access, we tested successfully in Thailand before and after.

» A few days after I wrote about the depressing process for upgrading to Aperture 3, Apple released update 3.0.1 that fixed most problems. Many people had reported difficulties and these centred on library conversion, especially if images used in Aperture 2 had had multiple adjustments. New installations (for example in my Admin account, which I do not use on a daily basis) were generally problem-free.

» The Wi-Fi iPad is to go on sale in the United States on April 3, followed by Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK in late April.
