» if married in thailand i am a uk man she is thai lady can she have a claim on my property and my bussiness if we were to divorce

    • Anonymous commented : hi john , last night my wife and i had a light hearted conversation , the topics differed wildly to say the least , i informed her of your post for a recipe for a successful thai farang relationship her reply was typical of an issan thai lady who i feel have a bit of a inferiority complex towards men , which you and i know is somehow bred in them from an early age and something which i totally disagree with most strongly , i,ve told her many times that a good marriage is based on mutual agreements and in no way do i regard her as a chattel , anyway she opened up a little and said many people not same same , me happy , you happy , but i see many people no same you and me , and many thai lady think farang have to take care all family , ok can help little bit but i not marry to family only you , because now me have the good life and my life no good before and i never forget , i pressed her for more insight on what she thought but she declined just saying no my business only you and me , so there you have it john whether you or other subscribers are any the wiser is up to yourselves , but is was a bit of fun anyway to just to try to explore her mindset , regards ,colin .

    Thai tradition

» Hello Colin, AD, Robert etc. I have been reading your posting in this forum and I have to say I most agree with you. Just a breeze of common sense and down to earth wisdom in a desert of plain stupidity and naivety. Unsuspecting and gullible farangs are easy pray for abuse and scams. Many of these...

    • Anonymous commented : Juan - you're quite correct in a lot of what you say. But I'd just point out the following : - the essential difference between Thai (and indeed many other Asian cultures) compared to the West is that children are strongly expected to strongly support parents. The flip-side of this is that in many respects, children are often cared for better than they are in the West. Indeed they are continually looked after by the entire village/ town - not just the EXTENDED family. - many of the girls working in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, etc., would rather do that than either slave away under the sun in rice-fields, or work in low-paying jobs in their towns and villages. Many of these girls skipped school big time, or did little or no work when they went to school. They often have a reputation for laziness, and even delinquency, in their villages and towns. But regain respect by snaring some uniformed / stupid farang. - Thailand's antiquated anti-foreigner laws are a recipe not only for such snaring scams : but also are dangerously and deeply corroding Thailand's "traditional" social fabric, and indeed Thailand's long-term survival, in numerous ways.
