    get married in Thailand

By Anonymous, Created on: 10/06/2002, Last updated on: 21/01/2008

» I want to get married, but a civil wedding, not religious. I am from Spain and we want to come to Thailand for holidays and marry. What do I have to do to find a judge?

    • Anonymous commented : The reason it has to change and things cannot always stay the way they were centuries ago is that Thai people want to progress. They obviously do not want to stay at the life standard of former centuries, to that of a developing country, forever. The bathroom of king Rama V was poorer equipped than almost any of a European lower class person. Prostrating is a personal cult. A gesture that should be, if so, performed toward god(s). In modern culture, humans treat each other as equal. Chinese have treated Mao with personal cult, North Coreans do so with Kim Yong Il, with terrible consequences. Particularly it put and puts them backwards in life standard tremendously. They only get cheated. To put it simple, Thai have cars (Bangkok has too many). One cannot take everything from western cultures, pollute the environment considerably besides, and refuse to practise human rights and equal treatment of humans. In that sense, the often abused dowry system also needs to be abolished. Or do Thai people want to go back to the lifestyle centuries ago? Have a life expectancy of several decades less? Not have a cure for so many infectious diseases?

    Does thai society accept intermarriages?

By Anonymous, Created on: 19/09/2003, Last updated on: 09/05/2006

» The thai men that are undesirable are usually uneducated ones who try to get through life by being sleazy. This is why alot of thai women are turned off by marrying a thai man. Typical thai males are fairly unambitious, narrow-minded, and judgemental. I think that its the society that is teaching...

    • Anonymous commented : How about mentioning the responsible ones -some educated and as well as not so ones , Chad? Or you just don't know of any? Or you just don't speak Thai?! I've lived and am still iving abroad most of my life. And I've never come across any lazy Thais, be they men or women. So generalisation is a form of racism. And maybe you should open your mind a little. During my visits in Thailand, I've come across many lazy, aggressive and low class type Farangs that I never knew of over here. I spend my life dodging confrontational Farangs, be they English - who love a good fight on Saturday nights, agonising types as well as gentle but snobbish Frenchmen and nuerotic Americans and these bullying Russians who suffer from superiority complex in Thailand that can't speak English properly, let alone Thai, because they think they're too good to do so. Learn Thai properly, and you will have better understanding of the culture of the land you are living in. Imagine that the other way around? There was a time when I was growing up in, 'Krungthep', I knew of many Farangs who wouldn't eat any Thai food except, 'Khao phatd'. Now the English won't even look back on their inferior cuisine and only serve Thai food in pubs all over London. I wish you good luck with your endeavours, if you have any. My regards.

    • Anonymous commented : nd screens by the Thai ruling classes. The ruling classes than and now have always looking down on their on people...and prefer foreigners over indigenous Thais without regarding to class or education. This type of example by the upper class is portrayed as upward mobility whether it is true or not...i.e. having bastards by foreigners are better having them with Thai men. Since these children are view as better in appearances like lighter skin tone. Regarding to Thai education policy, the education system is discriminating against rural and poor Thais. The education system itself is discriminating againt Thai men and always by age discrimination. The system is rigged to serve women, urbanites, and foreigners. The testing system is imported from foreign culture which is designed to select people from their classes. These tests are not for testing male's masculine brains...left or right sides of the human brain. These resulting in vast majority of Thai women bring educated over Thai men. As a result, most Thai teachers and those running Thai education system are women who are quiet comfortable with the current system. Oh, we should take a took at Japan - how Japan modernized their education system? - during the advance of Western Imperialism era. Many foreign educated Thai men left to Thailand for high education for various reasons...one of this reason is admission process. Rich families are able to send their children abroad, and poor families ended up without education. If you think carefully, how can anyone determine a person potential by giving them written examinations. It is so backward; it is the same season for the decline of confucianism. Recently, I have been conducting my own experiment by testing my hypothesis from the know statistic. As from my previous posting, the computer usages by Thai female to male ratio is 2:1. This is due to different factors beside education. Computer is a easiest way for Thai women to reach out to the world or to foreign men. To make this short, I tested 4 websites with Thai women posting their pictures and profiles looking for friendships. I got all positive hits or good invitions when I portraying myself as foreign men, and negative reception as Thai man. All of these women or girls are looking for foreign men with only few of them having any knowledge of these countries and people. I only found one exception girl who is looking for Thai man; she is a 21 years old Thai-Chinese girl. I tested the women and girls in the age group between 16 to 30 years old. I have more than one women telling me that they hated Thai men. Of course, I did not ask them why...tried not to review myself to them. I think that it is very sad...Thai culture and Thai men is in decline and an endangered specie. We are bring breed out of our land by foreigners with the help from our women. What do Thai men have to hope for in their women?

    • Anonymous commented : We should ask ourselves about Selective Breeding by the feminization of Thai culture.? Or we can use another term like Selective Pressure.? It does not take more than few generations to see these results in Thai society. You can ask Thai women from the general population about the type of men that they are interested in engaging their relationships.? You will find that they are looking for men who are neutered or feminized in their opinions and attitudes. The increase ratio of female population and educated Thai women have shifted Thai society and economy toward feminization process. Thai culture and society are increasingly moving toward Maternalism. What would be the results of Thai society in 50 to 100 years from now? When Thailand is ruled by ruling class of women, gays, and lesbians?

    British Embassy in Bangkok

By Anonymous, Created on: 05/10/2004, Last updated on: 25/02/2011

» In March, my Thai partner wanted to visit me in London. Before granting a visa, the Embassy wanted a mountain of paperwork including proof of my income, whether or not I woned my own home and a whole lot of other things. At this stage, I have to say that we have many controversial issues in the UK...

    • Anonymous commented : There certainly are educated bar-girls. Indeed, as you most likely know Rooster, there are places in Bangkok and elsewhere, with very high-class working women. Indeed : all levels of the social scale. But essentially it's all the same game - they're after money, by one scam or another. AND there is a fundamental incompatiblity between Thai and Western ways of looking at marriage . I.e., in the Thai way the girl marries for money for her family. In the Western way, the girl is supposed to marry for love - since she, and her family, already have money and education.

    • Anonymous commented : Nothing has changed for the better. I went to the embassy recently with my fiance to apply for a visitors visa, so that she could excperience the british people, food and weather before we commit ourselves to applying for settled status. As previous authors have noted - the embassy officials do everything they can to be offensive in their questioning, evasive in their answersing and obstructive in providing any positive service. I have made a complaint to the head of department but have not even received the courtesy of an acknowledgement - let alone answers to my complaint. The man who i am happy to name and shame is Steve Taylor - an individual who in my opinion is solely unsuitable for his position and acts as though he is god - his decisions appearing to be based upon his whims rather than any subjective or objective criteria. If anyone has a more positive story or who knows of someone with teeth that could help in obtaining a visa i would be grateful. Other than that i think given the number of similiar stories we should consider a class action suit against the immigration department on the grounds of discrimination - your comments gentlemen please.
