The premier global meeting for ethnomusicologists was held in Southeast Asia for the first time in its history. As the secretary-general of the ICTM Prof Ursuka Hemetek said: "This is a special occasion for us to be in Southeast Asia for the first time."

Wesley was James Brown's musical director at the time, and Brown produced the album and co-wrote most of the songs with Wesley.
