    » On Friday, Thairath hosted a debate on today's hottest topic: the nationwide student protests demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, among other things. Having watched the US presidential debates and the Thairath debate, I can confidently say that I learned a lot more from the Thai debate than either of the US debates.

Unfortunately, in his efforts to defend the indefensible, Vint Chavala falls into a common corruption of those whose position is intellectually and morally untenable. He has either not read Yuval Noah Harari’s excellent books, merely copying what others have said about them, or he has failed to understand what Harari says, or he has committed a more serious moral and intellectual sin.

    » I heard some Thai youth were due to protest older people's inaction in this country on global warming yesterday in Bangkok. Given the horrors that await them if little or nothing is done by our leaders, I hope they are successful in getting some action from people who seem totally oblivious to the problem, or are too old or inflexible to care.
