From death comes life

Life, Melalin Mahavongtrakul, Published on 05/09/2016

» It's been a few months since Manop Guntanong lost his two-year-old pug Bulboo to a blood disease. As sad as it was, Manop and his family also faced a dilemma when the staff at Prasu Arthon Animal Hospital of Mahidol University -- a place Bulboo received treatment -- asked if they could have Bulboo's body as their ajarn yai. » For a good part of November, the world was gripped by a tumultuous fanfare that is the US election. And even before the very last votes were counted, relief and joy were already felt in many communities, not only in America but perhaps across the world. For better or for worse, Donald Trump's reign is coming to an end, and the world now looks to President-elect Joe Biden in the hopes that his win will let voices from the marginalised LGBTI community become louder. Biden promised to enact the Equality Act, a civil rights law that will protect LGBTI people from discrimination within his first 100 days in office among other things.

Alice Wu is back with ode to teen romance

Life, Melalin Mahavongtrakul, Published on 06/05/2020

» The first time I saw the movie's trailer, I thought to myself: "Yes." This is the kind of young, queer story I've been waiting for. Finally, we're getting a teen story with queer girls in the lead. Praise be to Alice Wu for making her cinematic return in The Half Of It.
