    Ghosting around

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 25/10/2019

» Infiltrating enemy lines and leaving without a trace is the signature of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (or at least that's how it's supposed to be depending on how you play it). Its latest installment, Breakpoint, transports you from its predecessor's drug cartel-run Wildlands to the lush jungles, sandy beaches and urban landscapes of the island of Auroa. Sounds like paradise? Sure -- until bullets start flying.

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 03/04/2020

» The Division 2 was lauded as an improvement over its predecessor, giving players a more satisfying and rewarding endgame as well as building and adding on what made the original game fun. With its expansion, "Warlords of New York", Tom Clancy's The Division 2 draws you back in with a new story, new missions and even more loot.

Reunited and it feels so good

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 01/05/2020

» Back in E3 2015, Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced and welcomed by all fanboys and fangirls of the original 1997 game all over the world. Almost five years later and after a very, very long and anxious wait, the game finally arrived, defying Covid delays and giving gamers yet another good reason to stay at home. Is it better than the original? Perhaps that's the wrong question to ask because it's an entirely different game, but fans of the original will definitely agree that Remake stays faithful to its equivalent and brings nostalgic fun along with a few new twists.

    Eat, sleep, repeat

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 25/09/2020

» With tourism at an all-time low in a country that relies heavily on tourism, the government is scrambling to soften the blow on the economy. Hotels have taken it pretty hard, with a few reopening but still operating at low to medium capacity. However, there are hotels that have come up with a plan to entice spending at their properties: dine and stay promotions. It's pretty straightforward: you spend a certain amount to feast and eat your fill, and then you're awarded with a free stay or a discount on your next booking. Eat and be rewarded for it. Loosen those belts and throw diet rules out the window, as we list the hotels that are offering dine and stay promos.

    Mind games

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 11/12/2020

» Existential questions like "Who am I really?" and "What's my purpose here in this world?" aren't really questions you'd think would be asked by a Call Of Duty game, yet surprisingly, Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War does address that in a sort of mind-bending way. Oh, and you also get to jump into shoot-em-up game modes with other players that make you realise just how much of a noob you are but hey, that's Call Of Duty for you.

    The titles of 2021

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 05/03/2021

» We might already be in the third month of the year, but sadly, not a lot of exciting games have been released (except for one which is the first game on this list). The list of interesting titles seems to be slimmer than previous years, probably due to the situation. Nevertheless, these are the titles worth keeping an eye on. Fingers crossed none of them turn out to be the Cyberpunk of 2021.

    Work it out

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 21/05/2021

» Working out comes easily to some and is embedded in their routine, but to others like me, it can be a bit of a struggle to stay consistent. The pandemic and semi-lockdown (though the government won't call it that) make it even more challenging. Why work out when you've got a perfectly good couch seducing you to take a nap and a whole bunch of Netflix shows on your "My List" to be watched? But if there's ever a more crucial time to make sure we stay healthy and fit, it's now. We're setting all the excuses, the nap times and the Netflix aside -- or at least we try and do our best to -- to look at workouts that can be done anywhere without the need of a gym or park.

    Art against authority

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 16/07/2021

» We can all agree on one thing: this whole pandemic is a crapfest. The time when Thailand was lauded for successfully handling the first wave has long gone and we are in the throes of the third wave with daily cases almost hitting 10,000 (at least in the time of going to print), hospitals running out of beds for patients and vaccinations going at a snail's pace. The anger and fury directed at the government's handling of the third wave has reached boiling point and none are more vocal about it than political artists, who have found a home, voice and audience on Facebook. From tarot cards to 3D renders, here are a few artists who use their art to make their voices heard.

    World war boom

» Another year, another Call Of Duty title. The franchise goes back to its roots in World War II and puts you in the shoes of an elite team behind Nazi enemy lines. That's only the campaign though, and COD players know that the mayhem truly begins in multiplayer.
