    Tears of joy

Life, Komsan John Jandamit, Published on 24/05/2023

» An initial glance at the graphics and game world of Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, on the Nintendo Switch, would make anyone think it's just an expensive DLC (downloadable content).

    A bloody Irish jaunt

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 28/05/2021

» You would think that a game as massive as Assassin's Creed Valhalla wouldn't need an expansion and yet here's Wrath Of The Druids, which was released earlier this month. Tagged by Ubisoft as only the first major expansion in an unknown number to come, the add-on gives the already hefty game even more stories, mysteries and locations to discover and explore. But is more necessarily better?

    Nitro-Tastic

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 26/07/2019

» If you missed out on Crash Team Racing aka CTR back on the PS1 then man, you missed a lot. Crash Bandicoot was already an iconic character in the PS1 days and CTR came along and gave us even more fun to be had with Crash and his friends and foes, eventually becoming a beloved title, so much so that until now the debate rages on whether Mario Kart or CTR is the best kart racing game. You have no idea how many hours I've spent playing the kart game either by myself or split-screen with friends (because split-screen was the only way to do multiplayer back then. Dang, I'm old). You can imagine then just how excited I was when they announced CTR: Nitro-Fueled. In the vein of the previously released Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, this game remasters CTR and brings back to our childhood days. But it's not all just about nostalgia.

    Monstrously addictive

Life, Kanin Srimaneekulroj, Published on 07/02/2018

» Despite seeing dozens of titles released under the name since its initial debut in 2004, Capcom's Monster Hunter -- the Japanese studio's famed action-RPG franchise -- has never been a mainstream hit. With its admittedly repetitive gameplay loop, nail-biting difficulty and archaic controls, Monster Hunter is one of those games that you either love to death or avoid entirely, with no room in between.

    Can AI gain sentience?

    Bloomberg News, Published on 17/06/2022

» Media coverage of artificial intelligence tends to invoke tired references to The Terminator or 2001: A Space Odyssey’s HAL 9000 killing a spaceship’s passengers. Hollywood loves a story about a sentient robot destroying humanity to survive.

    The (space) danger zone

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 06/11/2020

» Seeing X-Wings and Tie Fighters dogfight is something to behold but being in the cockpit itself is an entirely different thing. This is what Star Wars: Squadrons lets players experience. The game promises players the thrilling experience of being a pilot on both sides of the battle and for the most part, it delivers.

Teens use VR to capture Hiroshima horror

    Asia focus, Published on 20/08/2018

» FUKUYAMA, Japan: It's a sunny summer morning in Hiroshima. Cicadas chirp in the trees. A lone plane flies high overhead. Then a flash of light, followed by a loud blast. Buildings are flattened and smoke rises from crackling fires under a darkened sky.
