» Pinocchio is the latest to join Disney's assembly line of turning classic cartoons into computer-generated live-action remakes. In this film, Forrest Gump (1994), Cast Away (2000) and The Polar Express (2004) director Robert Zemeckis is reunited with Tom Hanks, who retells the tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy. Despite the high-budget production, and the director's attempt to bring an old-fashioned story with a modern voice, Pinocchio feels somewhat lifeless and in the middle of the mediocre pack.

» To some, the three-month shutdown of movie theatres might not be a big deal. But for an avid moviegoer like myself, there's nothing like the thrill of entering a chilly, air-conditioned theatre with popcorn in hand. When a new family moves in, the girl-ghost finds the perfect mother she never had and the old skeleton in the closet comes tumbling out.

» You know you're at a Scrubb concert when the majority of the audience shows up in striped tops with khaki or olive-green cargo pants. This look is part of the package of the faces of the band, Ball and Muay, along with the addition of old-age jokes that they now crack willingly. But it's not just the 40-something duo who feel the gravity of ageing, as throughout Saturday evening you also hear the audience themselves muttering under their breath: "I'm getting too old for this" or "I don't think my body is cut out for this anymore" after a string of pumping hits.
